Wealth advisor: ‘Economy is likely to get worse before it gets better’

(By Kathy Mitchell) –

“It’s a mess and it’s getting messier,” Max Kulyk said, describing the current economy. “Consumer prices have gone up so sharply that people are having to make difficult decisions,” he said.

Kulyk is a Decatur-based wealth advisor and CEO/founder at Chicory Wealth, which he describes as “a fee-only private wealth advisory practice with the aim of helping clients integrate money and meaning.”

“I wish I had some encouraging news about the economy but there isn’t much,” Kulyk said. “I don’t see the situation getting better any time soon. In fact, it’s likely to get worse before it gets better.”

Kulyk said gasoline prices are likely to continue climbing. “Right now, people in Georgia are not feeling it as much as in some states because the state has suspended state taxes on gasoline, but that’s scheduled to expire in May. Of course, fuel prices affect many other things from air fares to agricultural products.
