Standing for Reproductive Rights

Like many I have heard from, I am profoundly dismayed at the Supreme Court’s recent decision to reverse precedent of nearly half a century by ruling not to protect reproductive freedom. I am personally heartbroken by this ruling because of the rights and freedoms that are being stripped away from millions of Americans. This is an issue of equality, for women and all people, to have bodily autonomy.
For that reason, I’m proud that Chicory Wealth is making a stand for equality in all its forms and for reproductive justice. As a business, Chicory Wealth has signed onto the Don’t Ban Equality statement that “restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion, threatens the health, independence, and economic stability of our workers and customers.” In addition, we are working on a policy to provide travel expenses to any employee who needs an abortion and can’t access it in their state.
What can we do when we feel so deflated and powerless? We can find some small solace in knowing we are NOT alone in the fight for reproductive freedom, and we can take the following actions:
GIVE | VOLUNTEER | VOTE
- Support a local reproductive rights organization or clinic in your community. For those in the Southeast, consider ARC-Southeast (Access Reproductive Care-Southeast). Or support the local chapter of a national organization such as:
- You can also check with local organizations about volunteering — with clinics, organizational efforts and rallies, and pro-choice candidates.
- We’ve been hearing it for years, but the message is more important than ever — we have to VOTE. Our local elections are critical, as state law will now preside over abortion rights.
Finally, this article gives me some much needed inspiration and hope for the future for abortion access and is an uplifting reminder — at a time that we really need it — that it’s not over.
