“Aspiring toward a more just and sustainable world” through action
We are living in a pivotal time, brought on by accelerating climate change, increased discriminatory ideologies, and very real threats to democracy. To be faithful to our mission of aspiring toward a more just and sustainable world by helping our clients integrate money and meaning, we have made a strategic commitment to addressing those issues: CHICORY 1% FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE.
Chicory Wealth commits to:
We are living in a world overflowing with media, but much of it is controlled by a few large corporations, and often it is misleading at best and blatantly false at worst. To advance social change, we must amplify the independent voices telling the stories of truth. For that reason, in 2025 we have focused our giving on grassroots, social justice media.
We have chosen two national nonprofits and one local to Atlanta as part of Chicory 1% for Social Justice this year. All three are doing excellent work sharing the stories of communities dealing with a variety of social issues and raising up the voices of those who are often overlooked.
Canopy Atlanta is a community journalism nonprofit that collaborates with residents to tell stories about their communities—neighborhood by neighborhood—redefining who journalism is by and for. They work with local communities to set their reporting priorities, pay and train residents to join the reporting process, and share reporting with community members who need it.
Chicken & Egg Films shapes a more equitable and just world with the catalytic power of documentary films by providing funding, mentorship, and industry access to a global community of women and gender-expansive filmmakers. Their vision is a world transformed because the stories and storytellers they uplift inspire empathy, learning, and action.
Just Vision fills a media gap on Israel-Palestine through independent storytelling and strategic audience engagement. They place documentary filmmaking and journalism, coupled with strategic audience engagement, at the center of their mission because they believe that stories have the power to shape public norms, equip audiences with vital information, undermine stereotypes, and inspire.
We believe that those of us at the “grass-tops” have the responsibility to use our influence and resources to support those organizing and building power at the “grass-roots.” Therefore, this initiative involves more than a financial donation from our company. We will also be learning from these organizations and sharing information about their programs with others.
We also hope this initiative will inspire other businesses and individuals to consider their own personal 1% commitment for social justice.
